Today, we want to decrypt for you what is the ECOCERT certification that our organic brand received. As we are living in a world where we are flooded with “organic” logos, it is important to know what is meant by these logos and which are the one we can trust for our Skincare products. This is why today we will try to clarify the most important category of logos which is the Certifications, with a focus on ECOCERT.
Certification bodies are accredited by separate organisations, which assess their compliance to diverse criteria. This is a way of ensuring the competency of these certification bodies. They deliver certifications which inform the customers that the product they are buying is meeting specific standards that they set up. The difference between all these certification bodies lies in their different regulatory rules, but they are overlapping each other in most of the cases.
Here some certification bodies for organic cosmetics you can encounter on your cosmetics products:
ECO GARANTIE (Belgium) EU ORGANIC
BDIH (Germany) ICEA (Italy) NATRUE (EU)
COSMOS (Association between BDIH, ICEA, ECOERT, ICEA, COSME BIO and SOIL ASSOCIATION)
ECOCERT is an independent certification body which provides organic certifications for different business areas. They are operating in 80 countries worldwide, and provide the highest standards for organic cosmetics. They are the world most important certification body.
ECOCERT were the first one delivering a natural and organic certification for cosmetics. Their teams of experts worked in collaboration with all stakeholders in a value chain (i.e. manufacturers, distributors, consumers…) to provide high-quality sustainability standards for cosmetics.
They are an independent and impartial body, which ensure you to buy top quality products.
ECOCERT is currently supporting and guiding over a thousand companies through their certification process. They helped us provide you with organic sunless-tan lotions.
The standards and requirements set by ECOCERT are higher than local laws, in order to provide customers with chemicals free, organic Skin products.
THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS
ECOCERT evaluates all the steps of the product creation from the inputs to the packaging.
After editing a company profile, on-site audits are conducted by ECOCERT and audit reports are forwarded to head office. After careful attention, the certification committee decides whether the company can receive certification or not. Once the certification has been granted regular audit are conducted to ensure that the products are still complying with ECOCERT’s high standards.
ECOCERT can provide 2 different certifications. The first one is ECOCERT Natural and Organic cosmetics and the second one is ECOCERT Natural cosmetics. The fake tanning products you can find with us are certified Natural and Organic.
To receive ECOCERT Natural and Organic certification the products must contain 95% of all plant-based ingredients.
To receive the ECOCERT Natural certification the products must contain 50% of all plant-based ingredients.
